The new Quo Vadis Life Noted planner is designed to help you set and track your goals all year! In this post you can see photos of all the pages. In today’s post I will discuss how to use the monthly review and forecast pages.
This short video shows you some ways to use the pages and gives you some great ideas on how to adapt the pages to your specific needs.
One of the things I love about the Life Noted planner (in academic year or January-December formats) is that the pages are not prescribed; there are no pre-set questions for you to fill out on the annual or monthly reviews and goals pages. This makes the planner very flexible, so you can use it in any way that best suits you.
But some people might like some guidance on what to write in those Assessment spaces each month. So, I’ll be doing a series here on Quo Vadis blog to give you some ideas of what to write for your monthly reviews.
Each month will have a new theme. You can pick the theme you like best and do that every month, or you can do the new theme each month, or choose the elements you like from each month’s theme to do your monthly review. Remember, this is all about you! Do what you find most useful.
The Life Noted month review posts will be on the Friday of the last week of that month in your Life Noted planner, right before the monthly review pages. These are not always the last Friday of each month; they are on the Friday of the week before the start of the new month. Follow along in your Life Noted planner and you’ll find that these posts come up just when you need them! They go up on a Friday so you have all weekend to do your month review.
In general, here is how to use the Month Review and Month Forecast pages each month:
Assessment: look back through your planner pages for the last month and evaluate your month. What went well? What didn’t go so well? What did you learn? What can you improve on? What goals did you complete? What goals still need work?
Priorities: Based on your evaluation of your month, what are the most important things in the coming month? Write those here.
Next month’s forecast: Goals: Now that you know what is most important for the upcoming month, you can decide what your goals for the month should be. Remember, write measureable goals. For example: “get more exercise” is not measurable. Write down what types of exercise you will do and how often. Challenge yourself, but be realistic about what you can accomplish in the upcoming month.
Action/ Notes: This is where you write your action steps you need to do each week in order to complete your goals by the end of the month. Break these down by weeks so you know what you need to do and when. Write your Action Steps into the Goals space on each week so you have reminders in front of you all week on what you want to accomplish.
