On office stores: the things they carry

We recently got an email from a reader who was frustrated that she couldn’t find a refill for her Scholar at Office Depot or Office Max.

Leaving aside the vexed issue of finding refills in local stores (in short, we manufacture and distribute our products, but it’s up to retailers to choose which things they’d like to carry), it’s a question we’d like to consider. Do you shop at those big box office supply chains, and would you like to find our products there? If so, can you do us a favor and let us know? As usual, we can’t promise anything — the price points may be too low, for example. But if enough people write in or comment on this post, we can at least gauge the level of interest…

How often do you switch planners?

We often hear from people who are trying to decide between several different planning formats, or who’ve used a particular format for years but have always been curious about another one. As a Business user recently explained: “I still love the others and am pondering excuses to use them all, somehow.”

I totally know the feeling — I’ve been a Sapa X user for years, but have always wondered if I should try a format like Space 17 or Rhodia, with weekly note-taking space. Still, my jury-rigged time management system doesn’t make me feel like I *need* weekly note-taking space, so never I’ve indulged the curiosity. Though I did just find an excuse to use a Monthly 4!

What do you do when you see a new format that you like? How do you decide whether or not you’re going to switch?

The refill run-around

We’re coming up on the new year, which means it’s time for those of you with reusable covers to order planner refills—if you haven’t done so already, of course, or you want to switch to a different format.

Simple, right? Actually, we’ve been getting emails from some customers who say it can be difficult to find the right refills because stores don’t stock the ones they need. We’ve got a list of retailers to try on our website (the local stores are highlighted, but we also list national chains, online venues, and mail order companies in the right-hand menu). But maybe it’s a good idea to open the question up to our readers…

Have you ever had trouble finding planner refills? And conversely, are there any stores or websites you’ve discovered that are particularly reliable for your particular format, or in your particular area? If so, please post them in the comments!

And let’s hope the “wisdom of the crowds” comes through for everyone.
