Karen Doherty is head of marketing for Quo Vadis in the U.S. She has used Quo Vadis planners for over 25 years. Always in search of “the perfect planner” she has switched formats at least 10 times. Her latest is a Sapa X in recycled paper. It is part of a DIY folio with a small Rhodia pad for extra notes. The folio is made out of canvas by a sail maker in her hometown of Greenport, NY.

Outside of work Karen loves to be outdoors. This can be sitting in her backyard watching birds; kayaking in the “Blue Duck”, or walking along Orient State Park beach towards the Long Beach Bar “Bug” Lighthouse. “Bug Light” is her favorite, but as a board member of East End Lighthouses, she works to preserve all eight of Southold Town’s offshore lighthouses.

Karen’s great-grandfather was a ship’s carpenter, arriving in this area from Norway in the 1870s. The ships he was on made use of these lighthouses during his many voyages. She feels it’s very special to help preserve of our nation’s maritime heritage and connect with her own family history at the same time.
