May’s first “Where to Go” entry comes from Texas resident Bill Bradford, who writes about his favorite spot in Austin.

My favorite place to go – when I lived in Austin, and when I travel back there…

I like to go to the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue on Lake Austin/Lady Bird Lake. He was one of my favorite musicians, and it’s a great place to sit, contemplate, think, write, and sketch.

I took pictures before I moved to Houston.

It’s Lady Bird Lake (not Bird Lake), formally known as Town Lake, renamed for Lady Bird Johnson immediately after her death. It is the section of the Colorado River that adjoins downtown Austin.

My fault – I typoed in the submission email (missed the “Lady”, my fingers were ahead of my brain) and didn’t catch it until after they posted it this morning.

Thanks for the correction, Jeff and Bill… I just updated the post.
