I would say go for it. I love Twitter because it’s nice and short. Perfect for product updates as well as links to blog posts. (You could let us know, for instance, when my favorite kind of Clairefontaine notebooks are going to be back in stock.)

I think using Twitter would make good business sense, especially if people are requesting it! Periodic updates would keep Exaclair/Quo Vadis at the forefront of people’s minds. You might also reach different demographics–some people might not wish to check the blog as frequently (at least without getting a Tweet that there’s something of interest to them). I agree that people who don’t want to subscribe don’t have to, but those who do (I would) would do so.

You could Tweet about the aforementioned topics, including advertising sales at various vendors, product availability at various vendors (for example, if there’s a new product available somewhere that didn’t previously carry Exaclair products, or new vendors), questions asking for feedback on products, the blog topic of the day, etc. So I vote yes!

On a personal level I agree with B. Irwin and Missive Maven above.

However, on a professional level, it appears to be among one of several marketing strategies, and a strategy that works in the marketplace.

So, in the end, you have to decide what your goals are for this blog and Exaclair.

And on that personal level, I doubt I’d check the twitter for updates. I am so behind the electronic age, I prefer the phone. )

I like Twitter precisely because it is concise. If you can’t catch my interest in 140 words or less, you won’t catch it at all. Plus, it is easy to add a link from your “tweet” if you need to give more info. So, I would vote “yes.”

I whole heartedly disagree. If you don’t want to know what they’re saying in 140 characters or less then don’t join Twitter. I would be one of the first subscribers if you hit Twitter.
Tweet about about new products, possible products, old products. Whatever. Use Twitter as a way to drive more people to the blog and to Exaclair.

What sorts of things would I want to learn about in 140 characters or less? Nothing. I’m not a 140-characters-or-less kind of person.

I vote no. I’d rather wait for something worth hearing about and be able to read an essay, then be annoyed with perpetual sound bites. There’s enough information overload out there as it is. Save your virtual breath for something worth saying and leave the perpetual distractions to the kids with time to burn. I don’t Twitter, nor do I plan to.
